About Meat Church

The first spark in this account is sensory and specific. Matt Pittman traveled through Central Texas, tried salt-and-pepper brisket, and came away eager to understand barbecue at a much deeper level for Meat Church.

Grandma June helped Matt Pittman understand in Alabama that excellent food does not need needless complication. He tested that principle at backyard cookouts, carried it into competitions, and later appeared on BBQ Pitmasters. The next practical expression was seasoning: Meat Church Holy Cow was Matt Pittman's first rub.

The Meat Church community is organized around helping barbecue fans improve with both knowledge and seasonings. A useful place to continue is the Learn guidesfor a focused next step. Meat Church's teaching and seasonings are meant to help people understand their cook instead of merely follow a result.

Family context completes the picture: Matt Pittman lives in Texas alongside Tracie, his wife, and their four kids.
